Hostess 186 is a low-cost, intelligent multiport serial controllerdesigned for ISA-compatible systems. It has an 8-MHz processor with 128KDRAM and is available in 4- or 8-port models. It features address windowsfrom 16K to 128K and 8- or 16-bit memory transfers. Installation is easybecause interrupt, address window size, and memory transfer size aresoftware selectable. Software device drivers provide additional featureslike transparent print and multiple sessions, and are available at nocharge. Software developers can request a software development kit.Interfaces include RE-232, RS-422, RS-485, and RS-232 Current Loop withDB9, DB25, or RJ45 connectors. Hostess 186, like all Comtrol controllers,is backed by a 30-day trial, a five-year warranty, and lifetime support.
